General Information
Ravenglass Railway Museum is operated by the Ravenglass Railway Museum Trust. It exists to tell the story of the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway’s rich heritage, by collecting, protecting and presenting a collection of artefacts. It has a collection of over 6000 objects, with a photographic archive of over 28000 images.
The privacy policy sets out how and why we use the personal data you provide to us, which will differ depending on how you interact with us.

Ravenglass Railway Museum exists to tell the story of the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway’s rich heritage, by collecting, protecting and presenting a collection of artefacts that represent the history of local railways from 1849 to the present day, for the benefit of local people, visitors to the Lake District National Park and interested people world wide

We will only ever collect the information we need. When we ask you to provide your personal information, we will let you know why we are asking and how we will use your data, by directing you towards this notice.

What we collect and why

If you make a financial donation to us and sign up to Gift Aid, we are required by HMRC to obtain your name and postal address
To record the details of gifts, purchases and loans to our collections at RRM
To ensure that we comply with copyright legislation when providing copies of items in our collections
To enable us to lend items to other institutions or researchers.
To contact you if there is a change to an activity you have booked.
If you would like us to keep you up to date with news about our work.
If you volunteer with us, to contact you regarding volunteering matters and enable us to offer you appropriate volunteering opportunities.
To contact you if you are the winner of a competition or prize draw
To enable us to respond to your enquiries
We may collect your date of birth if you are a volunteer who is under 18 when you join us….
To enable us to apply appropriate age-related safeguarding measures when you volunteer with us.
We may collect your next of kin information if you are a volunteer…

We do not receive or retain these details when you donate to us either in the museum or using our online options (PayPal, JustGiving).
We may collect information when you use our website or social media channels including…
- Search terms you have used to either find our website or used on our website, a record of all browsing behaviour including links clicked. This is done via a cookie which is set on your first arrival to our website and the contents of any form you submit to us. - Information that will help us contact you in the future like: name, company name, address, phone and email.

WHERE DO WE STORE YOUR DATA?
We only store data with Revinate managed secure environment. Your data will never be transmitted outside of the UK. Unless you have specifically requested us to do.
DATA SECURITY EMAIL/TICKETING
Due to the open nature of the internet transmitting data to Revinate must only be done via approved data transmission channels. We will endeavour to ensure your data is transmitted to us using the known best practice approaches. It’s important to note, any data you send to us is sent at your own risk. Once your data is received, it will be stored within the Revinate secure data environment, where we have robust processes and procedures to keep it safe.
Fareharbor ticketing system. Data access, portability, rectification and erasure. After booking, customers can request their stored data to be provided and, if need be, deleted. If you submit a form through FareHarbor.com, you can similarly request that your stored data be provided and, if need be, deleted. Data requests can be made via our Data Request Form. All data requests are reviewed and authenticated by security. Data is deleted within 30 days for authenticated requests. Once removed, a notification is sent to you, as the activity provider, to confirm that the data removal has been completed. Deleted contact information, such as the customer’s name, email, and phone number, will appear as [Removed] inside of FareHarbor.
EMAIL OPTIONS
We use Revinate platform to send both email marketing communications.
By submitting your information of Ravenglass- Railway.co.uk into one of the data capture points you are confirming the following:
- You are doing so in your capacity as a representative of the company.
- You are over 18 years of age.
- You are accepting the relevance of our marketing email communications
- You are providing contact information that will facilitate the communication between Ravenglass Railway Museum and you, the client.
Should you wish to stop receiving emails from us;

You must include your name and email address for us to ensure its removal.

CCTV
For your safety and security CCTV is in operation in public areas of Ravenglass Railway Museum premises. This footage is stored temporarily, and CCTV signage is prominently displayed.
