WIN BOOKS FOR YOUR SCHOOL!

We want to hear from teachers in primary schools in the Cumbria area about what you would like the museum to offer for school groups.  To do this, we have set up a short questionnaire for teachers to complete.  All entrants will be put into a prize draw to win a set of Peter’s Railway books for your school library. Filled with history, adventure and engineering, these books capture children’s imaginations and would make a fantastic addition to any school library.

This questionnaire is intended to enable you, the teachers, to give us useful information so that we can find out what you would like us to deliver and when.

You can increase your school’s chances of winning by having as many teachers as possible complete the questionnaire.

Chris will draw the winning school’s name out of a hat when he visits us at Ravenglass to deliver the ‘Little Engineers’ days on 29^th & 30^th October, and we will announce the lucky winner on our social media channels, as well as informing the winning school directly so that we can arrange for you to receive your books.

The closing date to be entered into this prize draw is Weds 29^th October. 

Our education packages support classroom learning in:

• STEM (railway technology and engineering)
• History (Victorian transport, local heritage)

• Geography (landscapes, map reading, natural environment)
• PSHE (team-building and social learning)

We have several options for our curriculum-linked learning to suit your needs and budget.

Visit the Museum- Short of time? Take part in free 20-minute sessions including ‘How a Steam Engine Works’ or the interactive ‘Mystery Object’ challenge.

Full Museum Experience- Enjoy a structured day with a workshop guided tour, and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to our Signal Box and Engineer’s Workshop. Charge £60 for up to 30 pupils.

We can also offer sessions for older students, colleges and other group and learning settings– please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Self-Guided Museum Worksheets-  If you are looking to do a self-guided museum visit as part of your railway tour. The museum can offer a worksheet suitable for your relevant key stage. Charge £1 per pupil.

These sessions reflect three important themes in the Railway’s history. Themes have activities relating to STEM, literacy, art, history and information technology.
